KES 2012 Creston's Best Singer Contest
The results from the 2012 KES Creston's Best Singer Contest Finals are in!!
For those fortunate to get a ticket to the sold-out event, they were treated to a night of tremendous local talent! The bar has been raised after tonight for future contests to be measured against!
In the end, the judges voted on five finalists from the 20 singers. Those five were Matt Hansen, Jarius Stonehouse and Jesse Dumas (Duet), Kyran Grant, Cara Waddle, and Victoria Bowns.
Each of the finalists sang a second song. Kyran Started out on the Grand Piano singing "Boston" by Augustana, followed by Cara Waddle singing "Lady is a Tramp" by Sinatra. Both singers were excellent.
They were followed by Victoria Bowns accompanying herself on guitar singing "The A-Team" by Ed Sheeran. Then Matt Hansen sang a crowd favorite "Piano Man" by Billy Joel. The final singers were Jesse Dumas and Jarius Stonehouse (with Jarius playing guitar) singing "You Found Me" by The Fray. Again, these three acts were magnificent which left a very difficult decision to be made for our out-of-town judges.
In the end, the judges decided that the 2012 KES Creston's Best Singer title would belong to Matt Hansen, with Jarius and Jesse placing second, Victoria third, and kyran and Cara in fourth.
To all who sang, contratulations on a magical night whether or not you made the finals! You were part of a night that will not be soon forgotten. To all the great people of Creston who witnessed this event, thank you for your continued support. You are the reason that this contest works. And to all the sponsors, thank you for your continued support. You are the reason that this wonderful event is viable. See you at the regional contest in June where Matt, Jesse & Jarius will go up against the best singers from the other Kootenay communities to see who the Kootenays' Best Singer will be for 2012!
